Each and every time I read a new release (or re-release) from Lexi Blake I am reminded of why I’m so obsessed with her work. Siren in Waiting hit all my Lexi Blake buttons and gave me a satisfying love story and a tale of redemption in one.

Siren in Waiting is a little friends-to-lovers, a little enemies-to-lovers(ish), and a lot about the characters learning who they were. I loved Trev and Beth together, he gave her so much self-confidence, and she gave him more strength than he knew he had. Bo, while he eventually became a really great guy, was more elusive to me. I think he rounded out their relationship nicely, but I couldn’t put my finger on why.

I was so happy to see Ms. Blake touch on addiction in this novel. I thought she treated it respectfully and honestly. I loved getting to see Trev’s inner struggles, and how he redirected and battled his impulses on a minute-by-minute basis.

The plot of Siren in Waiting, while a little predictable, was an exciting ride. I was sure who was at the root of what was going on but not completely sure why, for most of the book. Ms. Blake never tried to hide who the ‘bad guy’ was in this book, though, so I think that was by design. I loved how she brought the book full circle. It was a brilliant literary device and served to highlight one character’s fortitude.

Siren in Waiting is the fifth book in Lexi Blake’s Texas Sirens series. These books are interconnected standalones and do not need to be read in order. This book was previously released under the penname Sophie Oak and has been re-released as a second edition with new content. Lexi Blake’s series are interconnected, and we get to see some favorites from other series in this novel. Siren in Waiting is written in third-person limited perspective, narrated by Trev, Bethany, and Bo.

Lexi Blake continually delivers intriguing stories with fabulous characters and sweeping love stories. I love how she uses suspense and intrigue to draw her characters together and make them grow. I also appreciate that her characters are flawed, her women aren’t all stick-thin, and each book delivers a unique relationship dynamic.

Trev has recently returned to town after destroying his professional football career by abusing drugs and alcohol. He has been sober for two years and from the moment he saw Beth he saw her submissive tendencies that called out to the Dom in him.

Bo has always loved Beth but all his experiences with love have shown him that everyone leaves. He is scared to cross that line with Beth as if it doesn’t work out he will be devastated.

I really liked how Trev not only stood up and protected Beth but being with him helped her stand up for herself. He also recognized that Beth loved Bo and wanted to include him in their relationship which makes them all complete rather than make her choose. The combination of emotion, chemistry and suspense makes this an entertaining story that you won’t be able to put down.
Including books she's written with others, I have 46 Lexi Blake books on my and every one of them, including this book is wonderful. She takes the time to describe her characters, lets you into their personalities and minds then gives you a plot that's sometimes suspenseful and sometimes just soft and lovely. Her books take the reader to another place and because her characters are woven through the books, you feel like you're seeing old friends.
Trev, Bo and Beth are forever in my mind now as a sweet, loving trio that have had hard times but have come through. I'll visit them again and again as I do all of her books.

I had previously read this book when it was first published and purchased it again when it was reissued. I remember liking it the first time, but absolutely loved it this time.

It is a book about imperfect people who end up being perfect together. Trevor McNamara was a golden boy who got derailed by his addictions. Thankfully, he had someone pull him out of the situation & helped him get sober. He struggles with temptation, but has found motivation to stay strong when he meets Beth (otherwise known as Mouse). She is a woman who hasn't really lived. They bring out the best in each other.

Enter Bo. Bo has taken "Mouse" for granted his whole life. You feel the love he has for her, but he is immature. When Trev enters their lives and disrupts the status quo, it shocks Bo into recognizing he may lose the best thing in his life unless he can make some changes and grow up.

I felt the emotional evolution of the characters. This will definitely be in my "reread" pile. Two times isn't enough 😉
