Deeper is the first book in the Caroline & West series by Robin York. It's a good New Adult romance that has an important plot line. It sends a good message to young women – never send anyone pictures of yourself that you wouldn't want others to see...and never EVER let your boyfriends take sex pictures of you.

Caroline is a good girl who was just trying to please her long-term boyfriend. However, when she broke things off with him – he decided to post her sex pictures all over the internet. Caroline is going to college in hopes to someday become a judge, and she is afraid how this will affect her future. She tries her best to have her photos deleted from as many sites as possible, but mostly she just wants to hide and fade into the background.

West is a guy at school who Caroline is interested in – especially after he stands up for her to her ex-boyfriend. West is kind of a shady character though. He is very mysterious, but one thing she knows is that he sells pot. She can't get mixed up with someone like him with the type of future she is wanting. Even her dad has told her to stay away from him. But there is something about him that she is drawn to.

The book is a little slow moving, but a nice romance develops between West and Caroline. Being with West makes her happy, and it makes her realize that she needs to stand up for herself and take action against her ex.

The frustrating thing about this book is the ending. It definitely didn't end the way I wanted it to, and I want to know what happens in the next book. I looked it up on Amazon though and book #2 is $8 – for the ebook. I have a personal rule that I never spend that much money on ebooks. I read so many books, that if I spent $8 on each ebook I would be broke. So, I'm torn. Maybe I will see if my library has the sequel.

Caroline is a very good girl. But she's also a good girl who was betrayed by a boy she thought loved her. One night's mistake continues to haunt her as she begins college, desperate to leave her 'bad reputation' behind. After all, how can she go to law school and eventually get into politics with a black mark on her record.

West, a bad boy Caroline can't seem to outrun, is definitely not part of her plan. And Caroline is not part of West's plan either. He has fought tooth and nail, done things he isn't proud of to get into a good college where he has a chance at a real future for he and his little sister. West may be drawn to Caroline but he knows getting involved will just be a distraction from the big picture he needs to focus on.

I really enjoyed this story, definitely 4.5 stars worthy. I only detracted a point because the story really isn't anything original. Boy from the wrong side of the tracks and good two shoes girl meet, try to fight their attraction until they realize they can't.

But even though a similar story has been told several times, Robin did create two characters I fell in love with. West is a bad boy, sure but his life has been so hard that it's impossible to judge him too harshly for some of the choices he's made. Caroline becomes stronger as the book goes on but it's apparent at the end of this story these two have a lot to overcome if they really want to be together.

I definitely recommend the series. Writing is good, character development is very good, storyline is believable. There is a lot of sexual tension. A lot. So overall, this is worth a read but be prepared to immediately pick up book two, Harder when you finish this one.
Caroline Piasecki couldn't believe her ex-boyfriend took a private moment between them and posted them online. Now she is the girl on campus who is a walking smear campaign, she is reeling but doesn't seem to be able to get away from the noise around her.

West Leavitt has a reputation of being up to no good most of the time and Caroline has successfully avoided him for the past year but when West ends up beating up her ex, she feels she needs to talk to him. Caroline tries to stay away from West but something about him pulls her in and they become friends of a sort. However Caroline wants more and West's past is preventing him from acting on what he really wants, Caroline.

This is book one in the Caroline & West series. I felt for both characters in this book. Caroline is a victim and it takes awhile for her to get her bearings. West has had a hard life and his home life is unwinding and he feels pulled into several directions. I wasn't sure where this story would lead and was surprised by how it turned out. Definitely picking up the next book.
